As you likely know, autosomal (regular gene) genetic tests give you two things, 1) a list of matches (cousins), and 2) your ethnic make-up. The list of matches is often more straightforward than the Y-DNA or mtDNA matches. These are your 1st - 4th or 5th cousins, usually. However, most people scratch their heads when viewing their ethnic data. Components seem to be missing: “I thought I was (more) Irish!” “I thought I was more African!” “I know we are part Native American.” Or, there are components present that don’t seem to make sense. “We’re really part Scandinavian? How?” And so on. Many people end up assuming genetic testing must be a fraud, which is not the case.
Genetic testing companies only use one algorithm, the computer program which links genetic variants with ancestry. This creates the potential for both false negatives and false positives. Instead, Footsteps of Ancestors uses 20 – 30 algorithms per client to create the most accurate and comprehensive picture of a person’s true ethnic make-up. This picture is clearly explained in our TrueYou [or RealYou] Autosomal Reports.
Not only do we show you a better idea of your true self, the true ethnic components of you and your family, without missing anything hidden and without including anything false, but we explain how [or why?] these components are there. We add logic and explanatory help when there was none before.
